I find the process of melting and shaping glass and then tooling it and coaxing it into shape... mesmerizing.
Pinto Stallion (2013) ~
Creating sculptures in bas-relief allows me to layer bones, muscles, feathers or fur to create realistic animal medallions. This stallion is part of a growing collection of horse beads. Other bas-relief collections include: sea life, birds, mammals, bugs and reptiles.
Fire Goddess (2012) ~
These highly acclaimed sculptures are "athletic yet curvy." Different combinations of colors create uniquely marbled figurines. Many are adorned with Murrini "tattoos." All of my glass sculptures come stamped with my JM logo-signature.
Valentine Octopus (2013) ~
My bachelor's and master's focus was ceramic studio practices and bronze wildlife sculpture. Now, a dozen years later, lampwork glass is taking me back to my first love: sculpting animals! Recent 3D sculptures include: octopus, manatee, otters, seals, platypus, frogs, hedgehogs and more. Watch for more animals on my Etsy Shop or Facebook.
